Careers Event – RAF Cosford Trip Beyond Image

To celebrate International Women’s Day, a group of Year 8 girls from Aldridge School visited the Beyond Image exhibition at the RAF Cosford Museum. The event brought together an inspiring panel of women who shared honest insights into their career journeys, including the challenges, successes, and unexpected turns that shaped their paths.

Throughout the day, students heard from a wide range of sectors, including:

  • Emma Conway (Brummymummyof2) – Influencer
  • Sophie Millward – RAF Museum Apprenticeship and Skills Pathway Manager
  • Kate Hibbs – RAF Museum Digital Content Producer
  • Corporal Bethany Mason – Nurse and former Chinook helicopter engineer
  • Corporal Philippa Bullock – Nurse
  • Wing Commander Ruth Wilson – RAF Cosford Station Commander

Pupils took part in small group discussions where they were able to ask questions and explore the presenters’ experiences in more depth. They also engaged in activities challenging gender stereotypes and enjoyed trying on a range of RAF uniforms. A real highlight for many was the chance to have a personalised caricature drawn by artist Chris Witty.

It was a fantastic day that showcased the breadth of opportunities available across different sectors, all within the inspirational setting of the RAF Cosford Museum.
